Cloth and Identity with Yemi Awosile

Yemi Awosile will be leading a textile workshop that will explore personal and fictional narratives through fabric manipulation. Participants will look at different modes of communication, design and branding using simple print and typography on cloth materials and equipment will be provided. This workshop is part of the thoughts on Space series which explores our perceptions of internal and external space and how we form identity in space.
Yemi’s work is informed by cultural insights expressed primarily through textiles and printed matERIALS. The broader scope of her practice bridges design and visual arts through social interventions. Recent projects include collaborations with Tent Rotterdam, Tate Gallery, Contemporary And Magazine (C&), Design Museum, ICA, Crafts Council and British Council.
